PRODUCT INTRODUCTION

Magnesium Sulphate 50% 2Ml Inj is a mineral supplement, and an anticonvulsant primarily used to prevent and control seizures (fits) in preeclampsia and eclampsia (serious complications in pregnancy that occur due to high blood pressure). Magnesium Sulphate 50% 2Ml Inj is also used to treat hypomagnesaemia, a condition characterized by abnormally low magnesium levels in the blood.

Magnesium Sulphate 50% 2Ml Inj contains Magnesium sulfate. It is a mineral supplement and an electrolyte. It prevents and controls seizures by blocking neuromuscular transmission, the transfer of nerve impulses to the heart. It further has a depressant effect on the central nervous system and acts peripherally to cause vasodilation.

Magnesium Sulphate 50% 2Ml Inj will be administered by a healthcare professional. It causes some side effects, although not everybody gets them. Side effects include dizziness, drowsiness, low blood pressure, flushing, and sweating. Most of these effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, if any of these side effects persist or worsen, please seek medical advice.

Drug Interactions

Drug-Drug Interactions: Magnesium Sulphate 50% 2Ml Inj may interact with blood pressure medicines (nifedipine, nimodipine), heart-related medicines (digitalis), immunosuppressants (cyclosporine), antifungals (amphotericin B), muscle relaxants (tubocurarine), chemotherapy drugs (cisplatin) aminoglycoside antibiotics, and water pills.

Drug-Food Interactions: Avoid the intake of alcohol and caffeinated drinks while using Magnesium Sulphate 50% 2Ml Inj to prevent any interactions.

Drug-Disease Interactions: Inform your doctor about myasthenia gravis, liver/kidney/heart diseases, alcohol dependence, dehydration, and stomach/gastrointestinal disorders. Magnesium sulfate is not recommended for use in severely impaired renal function. It should not be used in a hepatic coma if there is a risk of renal failure.
