INTRODUCTION
Magnesium
Sulphate 50% 2Ml Inj is a mineral supplement, and an anticonvulsant primarily
used to prevent and control seizures (fits) in preeclampsia and eclampsia
(serious complications in pregnancy that occur due to high blood pressure). Magnesium
Sulphate 50% 2Ml Inj is also used to treat hypomagnesaemia, a condition
characterized by abnormally low magnesium levels in the blood.
Magnesium
Sulphate 50% 2Ml Inj contains Magnesium sulfate. It is a mineral supplement and
an electrolyte. It prevents and controls seizures by blocking neuromuscular
transmission, the transfer of nerve impulses to the heart. It further has a
depressant effect on the central nervous system and acts peripherally to cause
vasodilation.
Magnesium
Sulphate 50% 2Ml Inj will be administered by a healthcare professional. It
causes some side effects, although not everybody gets them. Side effects
include dizziness, drowsiness, low blood pressure, flushing, and sweating. Most
of these effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually
over time. However, if any of these side effects persist or worsen, please seek
medical advice.
Before
receiving Magnesium Sulphate 50% 2Ml Inj , let your doctor know if you have
kidney/liver/heart diseases, dehydration, stomach/gastrointestinal disorders,
myasthenia gravis (muscle weakness) and sensitivities. Inform your doctor if
you are a pregnant and breastfeeding woman before taking Magnesium Sulphate 50%
2Ml Inj . The safety and efficacy of
this medicine have not been established in children younger than twelve years
of age.
Seizures (fits) in
preeclampsia and eclampsia, and hypomagnesaemia.
Magnesium Sulphate 50% 2Ml
Inj contains Magnesium sulfate. It is a mineral supplement and an electrolyte.
It is also an anticonvulsant that prevents and controls seizures (fits) in
preeclampsia and eclampsia. Magnesium Sulphate 50% 2Ml Inj is also used to
treat abnormally low magnesium levels in the blood. It works by blocking
neuromuscular transmission. It further has a depressant effect on the central
nervous system. Magnesium sulfate aids in the normal functioning of cells,
nerves, muscles, bones, and the heart.
A healthcare professional will administer it.

are a pregnant or breastfeeding woman before taking Magnesium Sulphate 50% 2Ml
Inj . Avoid alcohol consumption while
undergoing treatment with Magnesium Sulphate 50% 2Ml Inj as it might interact
and increase the occurrence of side effects. Magnesium Sulphate 50% 2Ml Inj can
cause dizziness and drowsiness affecting your ability to drive; hence drive
only when you are alert and focused. Magnesium Sulphate 50% 2Ml Inj is not
recommended in children younger than 12 years of age.
Drug-Drug
Interactions: Magnesium Sulphate 50% 2Ml Inj may interact
with blood pressure medicines (nifedipine, nimodipine), heart-related medicines
(digitalis), immunosuppressants (cyclosporine), antifungals (amphotericin B),
muscle relaxants (tubocurarine), chemotherapy drugs (cisplatin) aminoglycoside
antibiotics, and water pills.
Drug-Food
Interactions: Avoid the intake of alcohol and caffeinated drinks while
using Magnesium Sulphate 50% 2Ml Inj to prevent any interactions.
Drug-Disease
Interactions: Inform your doctor about myasthenia gravis,
liver/kidney/heart diseases, alcohol dependence, dehydration, and
stomach/gastrointestinal disorders. Magnesium sulfate is not recommended for
use in severely impaired renal function. It should not be used in a hepatic
coma if there is a risk of renal failure.

Meditation, walking, involving in a task, and smelling a strong
odour are a few self-control methods to prevent seizures.

Rest properly, and avoid stress by doing meditation or yoga.

Manage stress, eat healthily, drink plenty of water, exercise
regularly, and get plenty of sleep.

Include Vitamin D-rich foods like fatty fish, mackerel, tuna,
dairy products, orange juice, soy milk, cereals, beef liver, cheese, and egg
yolks in your diet.

Also, it is advised to take folic acid and vitamin K-rich foods
and supplements during pregnancy.

Your doctor may advise you to get regular blood tests to test
the amount of magnesium in your blood.

Monitor your blood pressure and sugar levels regularly while
using Magnesium Sulphate 50% 2Ml Inj .

Your blood calcium levels need to be regularly monitored whilst
taking Magnesium sulfate injection.
Alcohol
CAUTION
Avoid taking alcohol while using Magnesium Sulphate 50% 2Ml Inj since
it may interact and worsen the side effects. Please seek medical advice for
more information.
Pregnancy
CAUTION
Magnesium Sulphate 50% 2Ml Inj is a pregnancy category D drug
and has shown harmful effects on the foetus. However, seizure control is
mandatory during eclampsia in pregnancy. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant

Breast Feeding
CAUTION
Magnesium sulfate passes into breast milk. If you are
breastfeeding, please inform your doctor before receiving Magnesium Sulphate

Driving
CAUTION
You may experience dizziness and drowsiness while using
Magnesium Sulphate 50% 2Ml Inj . In such
cases, do not drive or operate machinery until you are mentally alert and
focused.
Liver
CAUTION
Magnesium Sulphate 50% 2Ml Inj should be used with caution in
patients with liver problems. Please inform your doctor if you have a liver
impairment. Your doctor may adjust the dose or prescribe a suitable alternative
based on your

Children
UNSAFE
